For VA teams, SSVF grantees, shelters and case managers
Partners and referrals
You hold the funding. We bring the door.
We recruit and support private landlords who are ready to lease to the veterans you serve. You keep your case management; we add the unit and stay with the tenancy.
How a referral works
Check the veteran wants it
Talk with the veteran and get a signed release of information.
Send the short form or call
Just enough for us to reach you. No records yet.
We reply within one business day
A named person confirms receipt and sets up a secure way to share what we need.
We match and keep you posted
You hear from us when a unit is found, when the lease is signed, and at 30, 60 and 90 days.
Release of information
We need the veteran's written permission before we share anything with you or receive records from you. We will send our release form when we reply, or we can work with yours.
Please do not email full records or put them in the form. We will arrange a secure route for documents.
Where we work
| When | Counties |
|---|---|
| Now (Year 1) | Baltimore City, Baltimore County |
| Year 2 | Anne Arundel, Howard, Harford |
| Year 3 | Carroll |
How we fit with programs you already run
We are the landlord-supply layer. We do not replace case management, shelter or treatment; we add the unit and the landlord relationship that keeps it available for the next veteran.
| Program | What it brings | What We Care adds |
|---|---|---|
| HUD-VASH | Vouchers and VA case management | Landlords who accept vouchers, ready to lease |
| SSVF | Move-in funds and case management | Units to place veterans into |
| Shelters, CRRC and HCHV beds | Veterans ready to move on | The next door: a unit and a landlord |
We are an independent nonprofit. Naming these programs does not mean they endorse us. We list partner organizations only with their written permission.
